In late-February 2017, The ALS Association announced the release of 11 new Living with ALS resource guides on our website, www.alsa.org. The guides were designed to inform and educate people about ALS in a comprehensive and easily understood format, addressing many of the common concerns and issues that face people living with ALS. They can be found in electronic format HERE.
We are also pleased to announce that several new educational resources are now available to view and download from our website, including: Families and ALS: A Guide for Talking with and Supporting Children and Youths and the Medical Information Packet and Key Medical Information Card.
The Families and ALS resource guide was created primarily for families living with ALS, including parents, grandparents, siblings and other family members. However, it was also created to support the many school-based and health care professionals who work with families affected by ALS. The goal of this guide is to help families start answering many of the questions that will be asked, as well as to offer support and suggestions for professionals assisting with families affected by ALS. The electronic version of this new guide can be accessed HERE.
The Medical Information Packet has been developed as a communication and educational tool to help inform medical providers, as well as provide pertinent insurance and family information. The Key Medical Information Card was designed to include those fundamentally important key considerations in an emergency situation. The card can be printed and folded to fit easily in a wallet, pocket, or car glove compartment. Click HERE to view these documents online.
Each of the aforementioned resources will soon be available to order in hard copy on the Care Services Order Portal.
